The Town of Ware

About the Event

Members of the Ware Historical Commission have hidden 30 books of an historical nature around the Town of Ware. The books will be placed at or near historical sites, businesses around town and places where residents go to just have fun. The books will all pertain to Ware’s history and history in general, such as “Ware’s Boys of Summer” by Stephen Katz, “The Kaplan Block” by Stephen Katz, “The History of Ware Massachusetts” by Arthur Chase, “The History of Ware Massachusetts: 1911 – 1960” by John Houghton Conkey and Dorothy Dunham Conkey, and history books especially designed to interest children. All the books written by Mr. Katz have been personally signed by the author.

The books will be in bags to protect them from the elements and will contain a bookmark from the COmmission.

If you are fortunate enough to find one of these treasures, the Commission will have instructions with the book on how to take a photo on your cell phone and send it to the Commission so that we may include your picture on our website.

The Ware Historical Commission’s Book Hund will be a fun and interesting way to learn about our area’s history. Be on the lookout for these wonderful books and be a part of history!
